Items of Interest
At Strong Tower Wealth Management, we utilize a Sector Rotation Strategy. As a reminder, a sector rotation strategy is an active investment approach that shifts portfolio allocations among different sectors of the stock market based on where the economy is in the business cycle, changes in interest rates, earnings trends, and relative price strength. Rather than owning all sectors equally, the goal is to overweight sectors that are expected to outperform and underweight or avoid sectors that are expected to lag.
Below are Charts of Interest regarding the sector changes from the end of the 1st quarter until today. At Strong Tower we also utilize a technical charting program provided by our friends at Dorsey Wright to assist in evaluating these changes.
A common saying is that: “The only thing constant in life, is change.”
It is certainly true when it comes to the stock market.
The Last 7 Days
Stock Market & Geopolitical Summary:
Markets regained momentum over the past week as easing Middle East tensions reduced investor concerns. Now our attention shifts back to economic fundamentals and corporate earnings. Technology and AI-related stocks led the rebound, supported by continued confidence in long-term AI investment trends.
Lower oil prices helped ease inflation concerns after fears of supply disruptions in the Middle East lessened. Meanwhile, we will continue to monitor Treasury yields, inflation data, Federal Reserve policy expectations, and upcoming economic reports for clues about the direction of interest rates.
Bullish Factors:
Easing Middle East tensions
Continued strength in AI investment and technology
Healthy corporate earnings and consumer spending
Lower oil prices
Risks:
Higher Treasury yields
Sticky inflation and fewer expected Fed rate cuts
Elevated stock market valuations
Any geopolitical escalation, particularly involving Iran and global energy supplies
Bottom Line:
Investor sentiment improved during the week as geopolitical risks eased and attention returned to corporate earnings, AI-driven growth, and the broader economic outlook. While the longer-term trend remains positive, interest rates and geopolitical developments continue to be of primary concerns to keep our eye on.
